Full Figured Fashion Week Update: On location with Marie Denee, Rhonda Wilkins and Gigi Biggins
Hey LSR fans:
Be sure to listen to our special episode of Life Size Radio on location with the Curvy Fashionista herself, Marie Denee. Marie suprised me with two very special guest tonight - Rhonda Wilkins, founder of Divas Unlimited and Gigi Biggins, founder of the Voluptuous Woman Company. I was so excited, I almost jumped out of my chair!!! Gigi was the moderator of the Plus Side of Business Panel and Rhonda was a panelist on the same panel. Marie, who is the co-founder of the Curvy Collective, a group of bloggers commissioned to cover the event, was also busy covering the event for her blog and preparing for tomorrow's Shopping Excursion.
We caught up with these three lovely ladies after the day's exhausting events. Listen to what they had to say on location!!!!

Danforth: "Full Figured Fashion Week is like a big Family Reunion"

| Stephanie Penn-Danforth |
Stephanie Arnold (SA): First of all Steph, I know you're having a ball in New York. As an attendee last year, which was Full Figured Fashion Week's first production, what are some of the differences you've noticed comparing last year and this year?
Stephanie Penn-Danforth (SPD): There are a lot more people here and definitely more major corporate sponsors and representatives from larger businesses. It's amazing!
SA: Describe the vibe, the feeling there right now.
SPD: It's a really cool vibe. It's like a big family reunion. Everyone is hugging each other in the lobbies and dancing. It's really great. It's also good to finally meet people that you've met on Facebook.
SA: So, Steph, you were a panelist this morning for the panel "The Plus Side of Business". Who was in the audience and what did you talk about as a panelist?
SPD: Oh my God, Gwen (DeVoe) was in the front row, so I was nervous! (*laughter*) There was also a buyer from Jessica London in the audience. Some of the audience members were hard on her about their refusal to use plus models. My responsibility was to discuss the importance of developing healthy business relationships. In addition to staying position, one of the key points I think people need to remember is that you should always research the people you're doing business with. Everyone doesn't have the same intentions or integrity, so you have to be very careful. I also talked about how important it is, for men and women who want to get into the industry that you want to be part of, you have to continue to socialize with people, follow the trends, and become a student of your niche in order to become a leader in it!
SA: Sounds great, Steph. How many people attended the panel?
SPD: It was a packed house! I don't know the exact numbers, but the workshop was standing room only. It was a really good, positive panel. I felt like the audience was receptive to what we were saying. We gave them some positive, constructive and honest information.
Stephanie Penn-Danforth agreed to give us the scoop on Sunday after the Saturday finale. We can't wait Steph.!!!!

Preparing for Full Figured Fashion Week - Tip #2 - Business Cards
Christina Mendez said it best on our show this week - "Remember your business cards." She was talking about models, but anyone traveling to Full Figured Fashion Week should definitely be sure to look at this event as a networking opportunity and bring business cards.
Unemployed? So, what. If you have a name and phone number and/or email address, bring business cards.
Don't have business cards? Poor excuse! There are way too many websites, printers and companies ready, willing and waiting to design business cards for you.
So,when you're packing all of your beautiful dresses and fierce shoes, don't forget your mist important accessory - business cards!
